Who riffs harder, Prong or Pantera? Pantera easily. I can only Dead Shall Rise - Various - Grindcrusher - The Ultimate Death Metal Collection (Cassette) Lost and Found off top of my head from Prong, Pantera, probably entire discography Earache or Roadrunner? Was Darkthrone better as a Swedish death metal band or as a Norwegian black metal band? Black metal Soulside Journey the only death metal album I think they did besides that mids "from the vaults" one was rather boring Metal-rap is worthless suicidal thrash.

I reckon you got all the other ones right I'm certainly a poser, but saying Seasons in the Abyss is better than South of Heaven of Reign in Blood is completely ridiculous. Also the Decade of Aggression version of "Raining Blood" is kind of better than the album version. Norwegian Black Metal because, like Obama, it got kids involved. In burning down historic churches and murdering people, but that's beside the point.

Bay area 6. I would like to see interviews with Vio-Lence 7. Earache, because of the first Cathedral record. Is that weird? Reign In Blood 2. Swedish Death Metal 4. German Speed 5. New York City 6.

Thrash Metal Edition 7. Roadrunner Records 9. Norwegian Black Metal band Death Is Just The Beginning It looks like I'm going to have to spoil my ballot a few times Or maybe that's just the production My mom looked at my purchases and asked me, "do you think these will help you grow spiritually?!? Norwegian black metal, but only by default. Try as I might, I could never remember anything off of any of the Swedish death metal albums I owned.

Emperor have at least one truely excellent song in "Curse You All Men". Ion Dissonance's "Solace"! Despised Icon's "The Healing Process"! K, this list's starting to get sketchy! New York. Go David Allen Coe! Roadrunner due to the awesomeness that is Treponem Pal's self titled debut. I listened to Darkthrone once Grindcrusher lived up to it's name and destroyed my hope in metal's future at that time Ditto "Seasons In The Abyss".

Sure, the Napalm Death and Morbid Angel songs ruled but the vast majority of it was just so Anthrax and Public Enemy are the goods.

On a related note, did anyone else hear Rage Against The Machine's debut and go, "Enough with this rap metal already! I'm guessing you're going to disable my ability to post after you read this. South of Heaven. Everyone loves Reign in Blood, but South of Heaven was more reminiscent of their earlier stuff and less core. Core sucks. And fuck you, Show no mercy is awesome. Norweigan black metal, because your definition of Swedish death metal forgets the best part: Dissection's first 2, early Opeth, early In Flames, and At the Gates.

American, though Anthrax was always a joke and always will be thanks to VH1. Bay area, see 4 6. Grindcore sucks, see 1 7.

Pantera, though I agree it is close. Two words for you: Mercyful Fate 9. Black metal. What idiot thinks generic death metal is better than pioneering the black metal revival? Oh wait Death is just the beginning. See 1 and 6 Anthrax was worse. See 4. Kevin, Right on with Dead Shall Rise - Various - Grindcrusher - The Ultimate Death Metal Collection (Cassette) - they are the shit.

Another reason Earache is light years ahead of Roadrunner, let's not forget Confessor's Condemned as well. I Dead Shall Rise - Various - Grindcrusher - The Ultimate Death Metal Collection (Cassette) do like some of the Norwegian black metal but Clandestine and Like An Ever Flowing Stream pretty much fucking kills everything.

Kreator had a couple of good ones. Destruction and Sodom bored the shit outta me. Can't find my Thrash edition. What do I know though. I mean, they had fucking Exhorder, Obituary, Suffocation, Deicide yes. I still love their first 2etc I'm indifferent to both.

Biohazzard can lick my nuts and Onyx were a fucking joke in every aspect. Of these two, Reign in Blood. If you really wanted to make this a reflection of the presidential election, it should have been Diabolus in Musica vs. Divine Intervention with that Forced Entry album as the third party option that is solid, but won't win because no one has ever heard of it. They have more riffs and Death Angel look like they come from Muslim stock.

Swedish death. American thrash. Bay Area, barely. The great bands are basically neck and neck, so I had to compare also-ran bands in the undercard and Laaz Rockit just barely squeaked past Faith or Fear. The hippies explaining that grind is "death metal with a thoughtful edge".

The Sonic Violence interview. It's a classic. Prong, forever. If I never hear Pantera again, I will be a happy camper. I live near New Orleans, where their legacy still lives, and just no. If we're just talking death metal, Earache. If the King Diamond albums on Roadrunner are added, it's a tougher decision. Chapel of Ghouls FTW. Growing up around Cajuns who only listened to House of Pain and the Judgment Night soundtrack made this an easy call. Sorry but Black Metal, the problem with swedish death is that although it spawned a few admittedly classic records it never really developed developed until At the Gates and Meshuggah both awesome but consequently spawned a million emo-death-metalcore turds who's fondness for hair products has destroyed the ozone and befouled the seas which killed lots of seals and gave us Gojira THANKS A BUNCH!

Whilst Black Metal has produced many hilarious photographs, that immortal video and impaled northern moonforest score! Hasn't aged well my arse. South of Heaven hasn't aged well with its dry, cardboard box production. DARK 3.

Good debut, some mediocre albums, Cleansing was good. Early earache anyway. Norwegian retarded punk-metal, their current incarnation, is my favorite. Biohazard were an embarassment, still are. They both only have a handful of good songs, but Dark Angel wins in a squeeker. Who cares who wins? American Thrash! I love all those German M F"ers to.

Now if it was who produces the most brutal porn I would have went the other way. Bay Area- primo levis hit the reason on the head. Flawless production, and I was turned onto this album by a non-metal chick whose older sibling used to blast slayer everyday when she was young, Dead Shall Rise - Various - Grindcrusher - The Ultimate Death Metal Collection (Cassette). I'm gonna take a hit on this one, but I havent listened to too much of either, hey, give me a break im 24 but I have run into gene holgan twice running around like a madman at shows.

Yes I know I suck, but listening to bo th will be my homework for this weekend! I've yet to delve too much into black metal I read lords of chaos and it kind mentally aborted my interest in black metal. I'll never check out any Inflames at all since those stupid corpsepaint kids where one had an in flames shirt on, that killed all interest in them for me Im gonna go with bay area since i'm much more familiar, even though Agent Orange Kills. My Girlfriends band composed of her and her brothers opened for destruction, and she spend 60 bucks bidding on this original destruction mad butcher backpatch to get it signed.

Met her at an exodus show when I went alone and I drank 2 40's before I even walked in the whisky. Ny has good ol anthrax and N. I'll skip this one. Though I never get tired of the 3 pantera Dead Shall Rise - Various - Grindcrusher - The Ultimate Death Metal Collection (Cassette) videos.

Earache you asses! They play fast as hell jumpy frantic ska punk without horns in the vein of the great Operation Ivy. After their breakup, they went on to form The Dogs of Ire.

Check them out if you feel like bouncing around like a madman, Dead Shall Rise - Various - Grindcrusher - The Ultimate Death Metal Collection (Cassette). Right On Time. Deathbound - We Deserve Much Worse This album has everything that old-school Grind used to have, it's vile, it's super fast, it's blasphemous, it hates politics and it's really fucking catchy. Deathbound comes from Finland and delivers a blasting quality of Grindcore mixed with Crust and a bad-ass attitude.

This, their third album, shows a more dynamic band with slight shots of versatility and explosive structures, an album specially made for crazy Grindcore fans. Half-Hour of continuous blasting and crushing music doesn't slides easily down your ears; this thing is fucking violent to the bone and will make your head ache after the first listen. So, as you can see, I can't talk much about virtuous execution or intricate musicianship, on the contrary, "We Deserve Much Worse" is a really simplistic album, it starts and ends in the same way, sounding like a machine-gun piercing a concrete wall.

This is surely a very elitist release; people with Napalm DeathExtreme Noise Terror and Terrorizer in their shelves will instantly fall in love with this band and will find themselves playing this album over and over again, while people into the melodious and fruity side of Metal will puke after hearing the first song Grinders of the world, enjoy!! For Your God 5. Pushing For Something 6. This bass and drum duo's sound is mixed between Powerviolence and Sludge with the songs moving by pretty quickly. Bassist, Vokillst Greg, is also the singer, bass player in Brainoil, also from Oakland. I have seen this duo unleash their fury a few times live, I think I have a video I recorded of them somewhere?

I'll have to dig it out and post it sometime! Anyway here is an old interview done with Greg. Check it out and leave some comments, it's the least you can do!

Emersion Of The Islands 6. Earth 7. Leave Total playing time Lento is a pretty cool Italian band who play a laid back mix of post rock with hardcore.

There are some hard moments on here but overall I wouldn't really consider this a metal album so I posted it here instead of on my own blog. I really enjoy this, though, because a lot of times with regular sludge I find the vocals to be godawful and too much like metalcore stuff so this is automatically better since it's instrumental.

Show - Soft Emergencies Somehow this one slipped past me and I didn't even know it was out there til yesterday. I was originally just hoping it would at least come close to the awesomeness that was Vol. This one is just as good, if not better, and is straight up addictive.

These guys are sure to blow up soon so check them out now before they're a household name : "The exclamation that is Bingo! After rarely touring for the many years that the act has been together, ringleader ringmaster?

Clint Maedgen, along with supporting cast-slash-henchmen Ronnie Numbers and Mr. The Turk joined a loosened-up Preservation Hall Jazz Band for several months' worth of international dates since this spring, and still found time to release this track opus. For the unaware, Bingo! The important thing here is that they're capable of evoking the most important parts of the multisensory experience of a Bingo!

Soft Emergencies is incredibly diverse. The nasty, distorted grit of "Looking For That Lucky Five," with its clanging found percussion sounds and fuzzy organ is a junkyard creeper that gives way to Maedgen's angel-sweet vocals and smooth saxophone on the whimsical, romantic "Little Kitten. Soft Emergencies should go with the Mardi Gras beads and pralines in your next New Orleans care package to someone far away; it's a perfect snapshot of New Orleans' most original band.

Slackeye Slim - Texas Whore Pleaser Growing frustrated with the lack of creative musicians in his rural Northeast Ohio town, he decided to begin a solo project. Having no experience with any instrument other than bass guitar, he began to collect various instruments and learn how to play them. Frankland created a zombified and cannibalistic caricature of himself, based loosely on his frustrations with the modern world and American culture combined with his interest in history and especially the American West.

He called this character Slackeye Slim and began to write and record a series of songs. In spring ofJoe Frankland and his brother, Eric Frankland, packed their things and headed west to Anaconda, Montana. FM Track Listing 1. Looks Like I Killed Again 2. Evil Eye 3. Missy Columbia 4. There are many bands past and present that have never gotten the recognition that they in my opinion truly deserved. So I figured why not start converting all these demo tapes and etc.

But as I kicked the idea around on a few message boards and with friends, I decided to not just limit the page to Louisiana. So here you will find artists from all across the globe, some may be well known, others may not. Here at Nola and More, the Krewe and myself all have very unique musical tastes, which I think helps our page really stand out.

Yes, we may feature a lot of metal, but we also have punk, country, jazz, rockabilly, etc. Musical "gumbo" so to speak; meaning a little bit of everything.
