Hatch Silver, 4 Cyl. Thru Saturday Only! To turn this feature off, repeat the previous procedure. This procedure changes the mode for only the transmitter used to change this setting. The procedure will need to be repeated for the second transmitter. Pressing the door lock switch twice within two seconds will override this feature. All doors will lock. Rear Door Security Lock Your vehicle is equipped with rear door security locks that help prevent passengers from opening the rear doors of your car from the inside.
To use one of these locks: 2. Cycle the headlamp switch four times. On the third cycle, the doors will unlock to confirm that the feature has been turned on. Your doors will remain locked if delayed locking is now in the non-active mode.
To change modes, cycle the headlamp switch once more. A locking action will confirm the new mode. This procedure must be completed within 10 seconds of pressing the power door lock switch.
To turn the feature off, repeat the previous procedure. Close the door. Do the same thing to the other rear door lock. If you want to open a rear door when the security lock is on: 1.
Unlock the door. Then open the door from the outside. You should let adults and older children know how these security locks work, and how to cancel the locks. To cancel the rear door lock: 1.
Unlock the door and open the door from the outside. You can override this feature by holding the power door lock switch for more than three seconds, unless the engine is running. Leaving Your Vehicle If you are leaving the vehicle, take your keys, open your door and set the locks from the inside. Then get out and close the door.
You may also use the lock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter after shutting the doors. Move the lever all the way down. Do the same for the other rear door. The rear door locks will now work normally. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1 this device may not cause interference, and 2 this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device. Changes or modifications to this system by other than an authorized service facility could void authorization to use this equipment.
This system has a range of about 3 feet 1 m up to 30 feet 9 m. At times you may notice a decrease in range. This is normal for any remote keyless entry system.
If the transmitter does not work or if you have to stand closer to your vehicle for the transmitter to work, try this: 1. Check to determine if battery replacement or resynchronization is necessary. See the instructions that follow. Check the distance. You may be too far from your vehicle. You may need to stand closer during rainy or snowy weather.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1 this device may not cause harmful interference, and 2 this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal. Take a few steps to the left or right, hold the transmitter higher, and try again. All doors will lock when LOCK is pressed. The trunk will unlock when the trunk symbol is pressed when the ignition is OFF. Instant Alarm When the button with the horn symbol on the key transmitter is pressed, the horn will sound and the headlamps and taillamps will flash for up to one minute.
This can be turned off by pressing the instant alarm button again or by turning the ignition to ON. If your vehicle is equipped with the Universal Theft-Deterrent feature, you may also turn off the alarm by unlocking the vehicle with a key. Security Feedback: This feature provides feedback to the driver when the vehicle receives a command from the key transmitter.
Delayed Locking: This feature lets the driver delay the actual locking of the vehicle. For more detailed information and programming instructions, refer to the Index for each individual feature listed above. The following modes may be selected: Mode 0 1 2 3 4 5 Security Feedback No feedback when locking or unlocking vehicle.
No feedback when locking; headlamps and parking lamps flash when unlocking vehicle. Headlamps and parking lamps flash when locking; no feedback when unlocking vehicle. Headlamps and parking lamps flash when locking and when unlocking vehicle. Headlamps and parking lamps flash and horn chirps when locking; no feedback when unlocking vehicle. Headlamps and parking lamps flash and horn chirps when locking; headlamps and parking lamps flash when unlocking vehicle.
Vehicles are delivered programmed in Mode 5. To change to another mode: 1. Turn the ignition key to OFF. Press the trunk button on the transmitter. The transmitter will remain in its current mode. Press the trunk button again. Each time the trunk button is pressed, the transmitter will advance to the next mode.
Matching Transmitter s To Your Vehicle Each remote keyless entry transmitter is coded to prevent another transmitter from unlocking your vehicle. If a transmitter is lost or stolen, a replacement can be purchased through your dealer. Remember to bring any remaining transmitters with you when you go to your dealer. When the dealer matches the replacement transmitter to your vehicle, any remaining transmitters must also be matched.
Once your dealer has coded the new transmitter, the lost transmitter will not unlock your vehicle. Each vehicle can have only four transmitters matched to it. Static from your body transferred to these surfaces may damage the transmitter. For battery replacement, use one DuracellR battery, type DL, or a similar type. To replace the battery: 1. Insert a coin into the notch near the key ring.
Turn the coin counterclockwise to separate the two halves of the transmitter. Once the transmitter is separated, use a pencil eraser to remove the old battery. Do not use a metal object. Remove and replace the battery. Replace it as the instructions inside the cover indicate. Snap the transmitter back together tightly to be sure no moisture can enter. Test the operation of the transmitter with your vehicle. If the transmitter does not work, resynchronize the transmitter. Resynchronization After you have changed the battery in your transmitter, or if only the instant alarm button works, the transmitter needs to be resynchronized to the receiver.
You must be within range of the vehicle. Trunk Trunk Lock Release To unlock the trunk from the outside, insert the door key and turn it. When the system has been resynchronized, the horn will chirp and the exterior lamps will flash once. The system should now operate properly. The system also works with the remote keyless entry system. Push the right side of the valet switch to enable the remote trunk release button to work again.
Trunk Security Override Option Pressing the trunk symbol on the remote keyless entry transmitter opens the trunk even if the remote trunk release lockout switch is activated. It can cause unconsciousness and even death. If you must drive with the trunk lid open or if electrical wiring or other cable connections must pass through the seal between the body and the trunk lid: 1.
Make sure all other windows are shut. That will force outside air into your vehicle. If you have air outlets on or under the instrument panel, open them all the way. Although your vehicle has a number of theft-deterrent features, we know that nothing we put on it can make it impossible to steal.
However, there are ways you can help. But what if you have to leave your ignition key? Always do this. Your steering wheel will be locked, and so will your ignition and transaxle. And remember to lock the doors. Parking at Night Park in a lighted spot, close all windows and lock your vehicle. Remember to keep your valuables out of sight. Put them in a storage area, or take them with you. If possible, park in a busy, well lit area. Put your valuables in a storage area, like your trunk or glove box.
Be sure to close and lock the storage area. Close all windows. Move the trunk release lockout switch to the ON position. Lock the glove box. Then take the door key and remote keyless entry transmitter with you. Backfire - Powerglide - On The Edge: 1984-1988 (CD) light reminds you to activate the theft-deterrent system when leaving your vehicle. If a door or the trunk is opened without the key or remote keyless entry transmitter, or if the door key cylinders are damaged, the alarm will go off.
It will also go off if the trunk lock is damaged. It activates only if you use a power door lock switch while the door is open, or the remote keyless entry transmitter. Avoid setting off the alarm by accident. Activating the system: 1. Open the door. Always unlock a door with a key, or use the remote keyless entry system transmitter. Unlocking a door any other way will set off the alarm. Lock the door with the power door lock switch while the door is open, or use the remote keyless entry transmitter.
If you set off the alarm by accident, unlock any door with your key. Close all doors. From inside the vehicle, roll down the window.
Activate the system by locking the doors with the power door lock switch while the door is open, or with the remote keyless entry transmitter.
Then, reach in through the window, unlock the door with the manual door lock and open the door. This should set off the alarm. If the alarm does not sound when it should, check to see if the horn works. The horn fuse may be blown. If someone tries to start your vehicle again or uses another key during this time, the vehicle will not start. This discourages someone from randomly trying different keys with different resistor pellets in an attempt to make a match.
Turn the ignition off. It works when you insert or remove the key from the ignition. Clean and dry the key. Wait about three minutes and try again. If your vehicle does start, the first ignition key may be faulty. Avoid making hard stops for the first miles km or so.
Hard stops with new linings can mean premature wear and earlier replacement. Follow this breaking-in guideline every time you get new brake linings. A child or others could be injured or even killed. With the ignition key in the ignition switch, you can turn the switch to five positions.
If it is, then turn the steering wheel left and right while you turn the key hard. But turn the key only with your hand. Using a tool to force it could break the key or the ignition switch. If none of this works, then your vehicle needs service. Power is turned off if you open a door. When the engine starts, let go of the key. The idle speed will go down as your engine gets warm. Always leave your key in LOCK. If you leave your key in any other position than LOCK, your battery will discharge prematurely.
If you do, you could damage the transaxle. And the excessive heat can damage your starter motor. Wait about 15 seconds between each try to help avoid draining your battery or damaging your starter. Try pushing your accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and holding it there as you hold the key in START for about three seconds. If the vehicle starts briefly but then stops again, do the same thing, but this time keep the pedal down for five or six seconds.
This clears the extra gasoline from the engine. After waiting about 15 seconds, repeat the normal starting procedure. If you add electrical parts or accessories, you could change the way the engine operates. Before adding electrical equipment, check with your dealer. If you ever have to have your vehicle towed, see the part of this manual that tells how to do it without damaging your vehicle. Usually, the coolant heater should be plugged in a minimum of four hours prior to starting your vehicle.
Turn off the engine. Open the hood and unwrap the electrical cord. Plug it into a normal, grounded volt AC outlet. Before starting the engine, be sure to unplug and store the cord as it was before to keep it away from moving engine parts. How long should you keep the coolant heater plugged in?
The answer depends on the outside temperature, the kind of oil you have, and some other things. The dealer can give you the best advice for that particular area. Plugging the cord into an ungrounded outlet could cause an electrical shock. Also, the wrong kind of extension cord could overheat and cause a fire.
You could be seriously injured. Plug the cord into a properly grounded three-prong volt AC outlet. There are several different positions for your shift lever.
Your vehicle can roll. If you have left the engine running, the vehicle can move suddenly. You or others could be injured. You have to fully apply your regular brakes before you can shift from PARK P when the ignition key is in an on position. If you cannot shift out of PARK Pease pressure on the shift lever -- push the shift lever all the way into PARK P and also release the shift lever button on floor shift console models as you maintain brake application.
Then move the shift lever into the gear you wish. Press the shift lever button before moving the shift lever on floor shift console models. Unless your foot is firmly on the brake pedal, your vehicle could move very rapidly.
You could lose control and hit people or objects. NOTICE: If your vehicle seems to start up rather slowly, or if it seems not Backfire - Powerglide - On The Edge: 1984-1988 (CD) shift gears as you go faster, something may be wrong with a transaxle system sensor. If you drive very far that way, your vehicle can be damaged.
So, if this happens, have your vehicle serviced right away. It can help control your speed as you go down steep mountain roads, but then you would also want to use your brakes off and on. You can use it on very steep hills, or in deep snow or mud. This might happen if you were stuck in very deep sand or mud or were up against a solid object. You could damage your transaxle. This could overheat and damage the transaxle. An indicator light on the switch will glow when performance shifting is in operation.
An indicator light on the switch will glow when normal shifting is in operation. This mode minimizes how much the passenger compartment leans in turns, and decreases the up-and-down motion of the front and rear of the vehicle during acceleration or braking. If this happens, have your vehicle serviced. To set the parking brake, hold the regular brake pedal down with your right foot.
Push down the parking brake pedal with your left foot. If the ignition is on, the brake system warning light will come on and a single chime will be heard.
If you start to drive with the parking brake set, a chime will sound after the vehicle has traveled approximately 40 feet 12 m. Hold the regular brake pedal down with your right foot and push the parking brake pedal with your left foot. This will release the parking brake pedal. When you lift your left foot, the parking brake pedal will follow it to the release position. If you try to drive with the parking brake on, the brake light stays on and a chime sounds until you release the parking brake.
You may have to replace them, and you could also damage other parts of your vehicle. That section shows what to do first to keep the trailer from moving. Hold the brake pedal down with your right foot and set the parking brake, Backfire - Powerglide - On The Edge: 1984-1988 (CD). D Move the lever up as far as it will go.
Turn the ignition key to LOCK. Remove the key and take it with you. Your vehicle could move suddenly if the shift lever is not fully in PARK P with the parking brake firmly set. And, if you leave the vehicle with the engine running, it could overheat and even catch fire. D Push the lever all the way toward the front of the vehicle. If you have to leave your vehicle with the engine running, be sure your vehicle is in PARK P and your parking brake is firmly set before you leave it.
Then, see if you can move the shift lever away from PARK P without first pulling it toward you or, if you have the console shift lever, without first pushing the button.
When you are ready to drive, move the shift lever out of PARK P before you release the parking brake. If torque lock does occur, you may need to have another vehicle push yours a little uphill to take some of the pressure from the parking pawl in the transaxle, so you can pull the shift lever out of PARK P. Then move the shift lever into the gear you want. Turn the key to the OFF ignition position. Apply and hold the brake until the end of Step 4.
Start the vehicle and then shift to the drive gear you want. Take your vehicle to an authorized service center as soon as you can. Engine exhaust can kill. It can cause unconsciousness and death. You might have exhaust coming in if: D Your exhaust system sounds strange or different. D Your vehicle gets rusty underneath. D Your vehicle was damaged in a collision. Backfire - Powerglide - On The Edge: 1984-1988 (CD) Your vehicle was damaged when driving over high points on the road or over road debris.
D Your vehicle or exhaust system had been modified improperly. If you ever suspect exhaust is coming into your vehicle: D Drive it only with all the windows down to blow out any CO; and D Have your vehicle fixed immediately. But if you ever have to, here are some things to know.
Also, idling in a closed-in place can let deadly carbon monoxide CO into your vehicle even if the fan switch is at the highest setting. One place this can happen is a garage. Exhaust -- with CO -- can come in easily. NEVER park in a garage with the engine running. Another closed-in place can be a blizzard. The window can be opened in smaller amounts by pressing the switch rearward and releasing it immediately.
To stop the window while it is lowering, press the switch again, then release. To raise the window, hold the switch forward. Horn Nearly the entire surface of the center pad of the steering wheel is an active horn switch.
Press anywhere on the pad to sound the horn. In addition, each passenger door has a control switch for its own window. The lever on the left side of the steering column includes your: You can also raise it to the highest level to give your legs more room when you exit and enter the vehicle.
Move the steering wheel to a comfortable level, then release the lever to lock the wheel into place. These positions allow you to signal a turn or a lane change. To signal a turn, move the lever all the way up or down. When the turn is finished, the lever will return automatically. An arrow on the instrument panel will flash in the direction of the turn or lane change. If you have the Driver Information Center, it will tell you if you have a burned out bulb.
If a bulb is burned out, replace it to help avoid an accident. To turn off the chime, move the turn signal lever to the off position. To signal a lane change, just raise or lower the lever until the arrow starts to flash.
Hold it there until you complete your lane change. The lever will return by itself when you release it. Then release it. When the high beams are on, this light on the instrument panel will also be on. Flash-To-Pass Feature This feature lets you use your high-beam headlamps to signal a driver in front of you that you want to pass. It works even if your headlamps are off. To use it, pull the turn signal lever toward you a little, but not so far that you hear a click. If your headlamps are off or on low beam, your high-beam headlamps will turn on.
Release the lever to turn the high-beam headlamps off. For a single wiping cycle, turn the band to MIST. Hold it there until the wipers start, then let go.
The wipers will stop after one cycle. If you want more cycles, hold the band on MIST longer. For steady wiping at low speed, turn the band away from you to the LO position. For high-speed wiping turn the band further, to HI. To stop the wipers, turn the band to OFF. This can be very useful in light rain or snow. Turn the band to choose the delay time. The closer to LO, the shorter the delay. Heavy snow or ice can overload your wiper motor.
A circuit breaker will stop the motor until it cools. Clear away snow or ice to prevent an overload. Keep in mind that damaged wiper blades may prevent you from seeing well enough to drive safely. To avoid damage, be sure to clear ice and snow from the wiper blades before using them.
If your blades do become damaged, get new blades or blade inserts. To spray washer fluid on the windshield, push the paddle briefly. The wipers will clear the window and either stop or return to your preset speed.
For more washer cycles, push and hold the paddle. Otherwise the washer fluid can form ice on the windshield, blocking your vision.
This can really help on long trips. When you apply your brakes, the cruise control shuts off. Cruise control can be dangerous on slippery roads. On such roads, fast changes in tire traction can cause needless wheel spinning, and you could lose control.
You could be startled and even lose control. Keep the cruise control switch off until you want to use it. Move the cruise control switch to ON. Get up to the speed you want. Push in the SET button at the end of the lever and release it. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal. Resuming a Set Speed If your vehicle is in cruise control when the optional traction control system begins to limit wheel spin, the cruise control will automatically disengage.
When road conditions allow you to safely use it again, you may turn the cruise control back on. This, of course, shuts off the cruise control. Reducing Speed While Using Cruise Control There are two ways to reduce your speed while using cruise control: D Push in the button at the end of the lever until you reach the lower speed you want, then release it. D Use the accelerator pedal to get to the higher speed.
Push in the button at the end of the lever, then release the button and the accelerator pedal. Hold it there until you get up to the speed you want, and then release the switch. Each time you do this, your vehicle will go about 1 mph 1. D To slow down in very small amounts, push the button briefly. When you take your foot off the pedal, your vehicle will slow down to the cruise control speed you set earlier. The accelerate feature will only work after you have set the cruise control speed by pushing the SET button.
When going up steep hills, you may have to step on the accelerator pedal to maintain your speed. When going downhill, you may have to brake or shift to a lower gear to keep your speed down. Of course, applying the brake takes you out of cruise control. Erasing Speed Memory When you turn off the cruise control or the ignition, your cruise control set speed memory is erased.
Push the knob in all the way to turn all the lamps and lights off. DRL can be helpful in many different driving conditions, but they can be especially helpful in the short periods after dawn and before sunset. The DRL system will make your low-beam headlamps come on at a reduced brightness when: When the DRL are on, only your low-beam headlamps will be on.
The other lamps that come on with your headlamps will also come on. Fog Lamps The fog lamps switch is in the front of the front reading lamps. The lamps will come back on when you put the transaxle in gear. An indicator light in the switch will glow when the fog lamps are on. Your low-beam headlamps or parking lamps must be on for your fog lamps to work. Twilight sentinel will keep your headlamps on for up to three minutes, to light your way when you leave your vehicle.
If your fog lamps are on when you use your flash-to-pass feature, the fog lamps will be disabled while the flash-to-pass feature is being used. As with any vehicle, you should turn on the regular headlamp system when you need it.
Turn the twilight sentinel knob located behind the headlamp switch toward MAX. To operate twilight sentinel, turn the knob to MAX for the three minute delay.
Turn it the other way to reduce the delay. Turn the knob to MIN to turn twilight sentinel off. If this happens, turn on your headlamps with the regular headlamp switch. The lamps will come back on when you turn the knob toward MAX. When you close the door with the ignition off, the interior lamps will stay on for 25 seconds or until the ignition is turned on.
Please note that locking the doors with the power door lock switch will override the delayed illumination feature and the lamps will turn off right away. You can brighten or dim your instrument cluster lights by turning the headlamp knob. Turn the knob clockwise to brighten the instrument cluster lights and displays. Turn the knob clockwise all the way to turn on the interior courtesy lamps. Turn the knob counterclockwise to dim the instrument cluster lights and displays and to turn off the courtesy lamps.
These lamps will go off after about 25 seconds, or when you start your engine. Pressing the LOCK button on your remote keyless entry transmitter will turn the lights immediately off. If a door is left ajar, your interior lamps will turn off after 10 minutes to save your battery.
Exit Lighting With this feature, the interior lamps will come on for 25 seconds after you remove the key from the ignition. This will give you time to find the door pull handle or lock switches as you exit the vehicle.

Susanna Wilkins will do anything to make her father's final dream come true, including trek along the path Lewis and Clark explored into the untamed wilds of the Rocky Mountains. Every mile is more crucial now that lung cancer is stealing Pa's last days faster than she can come to terms with losing him.
The journey becomes harder than she ever expected, but paddling upriver through fierce rapids and fighting hungry grizzlies isn't what terrifies her the most. Beaver Tail endured more than he can stand from the women in his Blackfoot camp, but the last disaster gave him the final shove he needed to join this band of brothers searching for one of their group who's gone missing. The last thing he expected was to find a white woman and her sick father stranded at the base of massive waterfall.
His plan is to help them carry their oversize canoe and supplies, then leave them to their strange mission. Yet, the more he learns about the pair, the more he realizes his life is about to be derailed—again.
From a USA Today bestselling author comes another epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.
By the end of the Second World War, she was the Gestapo's most wanted person. From that moment, she declared that she would do everything in her power to rid Europe of the Nazis. What began as a courier job here and there became a highly successful escape network for Allied soldiers, perfectly camouflaged by Nancy's high-society life in Marseille.
Her network was soon so successful - and so notorious - that she was forced to flee France to escape the Gestapo, who had dubbed her "the white mouse" for her knack of slipping through its traps. But Nancy was a passionate enemy of the Nazis and refused to stay away. Supplying weapons and training members of a powerful underground fighting force, organising Allied parachute drops, cycling four hundred kilometres across a mountain range to find a new transmitting radio - nothing seemed too difficult in her fight against the Nazis.
Peter FitzSimons reveals Nancy Wake's compelling story, a tale of an ordinary woman doing extraordinary things. Turquoise Mountain Diane J. Hardened by his championship fighting career, he returns to his remote Colorado ranch to heal, only to discover that city girl Tessa Grove is determined to stake her claim to the old mine she inherited on a corner of his land.
Stubborn to the bone, Tessa soon digs up precious gems from deep within the earth to use in her custom-made jewelry business. But those stones turn out to be sacred, and sparks fly as they begin to guide her to the secret chambers of Dillon's heart. Whether it's living up to their ancestor's outlaw reputation or brandishing their own style of justice, these men have each other's backs.
And it takes very special women to get under their skin and untangle their barbed-wire hearts in order to find love in this contemporary western romance series set in the Rocky Mountains. Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man - a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world.
And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there is no gray area between killing for a living - and killing to stay alive. And according to the residents of the Japanese village with the world's longest-living people, finding it is the key to a happier and longer life. Having a strong sense of ikigai —the place where passion, mission, vocation, and profession intersect—means that each day is infused with meaning.
It's the reason we get up in the morning. It's also the reason many Japanese never really retire in Backfire - Powerglide - On The Edge: 1984-1988 (CD) there's no word in Japanese that means retire in the sense it does in English : They remain active and work at what they enjoy, because they've found a real purpose in life—the happiness of always being busy.
Ikigai reveals the secrets to their longevity and happiness: how they eat, how they move, how they work, how they foster collaboration and community, and—their best-kept secret—how they find the ikigai that brings satisfaction to their lives. And it provides practical tools to help you discover your own ikigai.
Because who doesn't want to find happiness in every day? To this beautiful but dangerous country come two veterans of the French king's wars, Jean de Siorac and Jean de Sauveterre, The Brethren-as fiercely loyal to the crown as they are to their Huguenot religion.
We meet the fiery Isabelle, mistress of the castle, refusing to renounce her religious beliefs despite great pressure; the petty and meal-mouthed Francois, unlikely heir to the estate; the brave and loyal Jonas who lives in a cave and keeps a wolf as a pet; the swaggering soldier Cabusse; and the outrageously superstitious Maligou, and Sarrazine, who once roamed as part of a wild gypsy band.
But the country is descending into chaos, plagued by religious strife, famine, pestilence, bands of robbers The Brethren must use all their wits to protect those they love from the chaos that threatens to sweep them away.
